The YPG/PKK terror group on Wednesday carried out armed attack on Peshmerga forces in Iraq with heavy weapons, an official from the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) said.
A group of eight armed YPG/PKK members attempted to enter Iraq’s Kurdish region through Syria illegally, the KRG Deputy Peshmerga Minister Sarbast Lazgin told reporters in Erbil, northern Iraq.
TERRORISTS ATTACKED WITH HEAVY WEAPONS
When the Pesmerga forces realized them at the border, some 50-60 YPG/PKK terrorists carried out attack with heavy weapons on the Peshmerga position in the region, Lazgin said.
The official underlined that the US-led international coalition forces have been providing weapons and aid to YPG/PKK under the pretext of combating Daesh/ISIS for years.
Lazgin did not share any details about the number of casualties.
