Türkiye and Azerbaijan on Monday commended their “productive collaboration” between their military leaders during a meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gürak.
According to an announcement from the Azerbaijani presidency, Aliyev and Gürak convened in the capital city of Baku, where they expressed their satisfaction with the “successful growth of the friendly and fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in various areas, including the military.”
The statement noted that both parties emphasized the significance of Gen. Gürak’s visit to Azerbaijan and anticipated that it would further enhance bilateral cooperation.
“The sides noted the significance of Azerbaijan’s Victory in the Patriotic War and underscored the high professionalism and heroism of the Azerbaijani Army in achieving that victory,” it said.
Earlier this month, Gürak was appointed the new chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.
