The Netherlands has lifted the restriction on the export concerning some defense industry equipment to Türkiye.
Foreign, defense and finance ministries said in a joint statement that the Dutch government wants to strengthen European defense cooperation and encourage Dutch participation in related projects.
The announcement noted the restriction, which is valid for Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, will immediately be lifted.
The economic vitality and innovative strength of the country’s defense sector are largely dependent on exports.
More than half of the turnover of the sector, which stands at 54 percent, comes from exports.
Türkiye has recently been enjoying its defense exports. Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar has signed an accord with Saudi Arabia to sell its globally-known drones. The agreement also includes entailing cooperation in technology transfer and joint production.
The company signed export agreements with 30 countries for its Bayraktar TB2 combat drone and with six countries for the larger Bayraktar Akinci combat drone.
