Israel registered five additional fatalities and 3,506 infections from the coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said the country’s tally rose to 139,013 confirmed cases, including 1,048 deaths, and 107,599 recoveries.
HIGHEST RATES OF INFECTIONS
The ministry said 472 patients remain in critical condition, while 140 others are on respirators.
Over the past two days, Israel recorded its highest rates of infections since the outbreak of the deadly virus in Israel in March.
Israeli authorities have imposed a night curfew in around 40 cities and towns in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, including 20 Arab cities such as Um al-Fahm, Nazareth and Tayibe.
The lockdown also includes a ban of public gatherings and closure of all educational institutions.
