Muharrem Sarıkaya, Ankara representative of Turkey-based Ciner Media Group, slapped a cameraman during an interview with Gaziantep Mayor Fatma Şahin.
Sarıkaya had a sound and connection problem during the interview while Ahmet Demir of Ihlas News Agency tried to solve the problem.
After a while, Sarıkaya slapped Demir’s face, and this unseemly move got reactions from social media users.
The 60-year-old journalist has issued an apology message, saying: “I lost control for a moment and did something that I shouldn’t have done, that doesn’t suit me and the organization I represent.”
Following the incident, Muharrem Sarıkaya resigned from his post.
