Türkiye successfully launched its domestic probe rocket on Saturday as part of the test process.
The country’s Defense Industry Agency (SSB) said Roketsan developed the rocket that launched from northwestern Kırklareli province.
“Our probe rocket, which was developed with our advanced engineering technologies as part of our country’s efforts to reach space, was successfully launched from Iğneada,” said the SSB.
Minister for Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır praised the rocket launch and congratulated Roketsan.
“Thanks to our rocket technologies, which we have successfully launched, our space studies will gain great momentum,” said Haluk Görgün, president of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency.
As part of its National Space Program, Türkiye aims to reach space independently. It also plans to set up a spaceport where rockets will be fired to be sent into space.
