Turkey’s unemployment rate fell to 10.3% in June, down 0.3 percentage points from a month ago, according to the country’s statistical authority on Wednesday.
The number of jobless people – aged 15 and over – decreased by 136,000 month-on-month to nearly 3.5 million in June, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in a statement.
The unemployment rate was 8.5% for men, and 13.8% for women.
Number of employed people
TurkStat said the number of employed people went down to 30.8 million in June, a decrease of 46,000 from May, while the employment rate stood at 47.8% with a 0.1 percentage point decrease.
The employment rate was 65.3% for men, 30.6% for women.
Figures of labor force
The labor force decreased by 182,000 to 34.4 million during the same period, and the labor force participation rate stood at 53.2% with a 0.4 percentage point fall.
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 20.4%, without any change compared to the previous month. The figure was 16.3% for men, and 27.9% for women.
