Türkiye’s Commerce Ministry on Wednesday stepped up to inspect markets in various cities in the country following complaints about excessive prices.
Inspection teams under the ministry carried out exorbitant price and label examinations for basic food and necessities products in the markets in Mersin, Bursa, and Balıkesir provinces.
Those who use fuel price regulations and seasonal price fluctuations as excuses to skyrocket prices are accused of causing high levels of shopping costs.
The teams examined the prices of vegetables, fruits, legumes, pasta, delicatessen, oil, and cleaning materials.
It was checked whether there was a difference between the label price of the product and the price of the case. Information such as the last change date and previous price on the labels were also inspected.
During price tag inspections, teams check whether there is a tag on shelves where products are located. They examine whether there is any avoidance of sales or stockpiling.
