Iran confirmed 284 more coronavirus-related fatalities on Monday, raising the nationwide death toll to 50,594, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

5,796 ARE IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Some 10,827 more people tested positive for the virus over the past 24 hours, pushing the tally up to 1,051,374, ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said. She said that a total of 742,955 patients have recovered so far, while 5,796 remain in critical condition.

Iran’s 64 districts have been classified as red zones with a high risk of coronavirus transmission, while 278 have been designated as “orange zone” and 106 as “yellow zone”, Lari added.

Some government offices and organizations were shut, or were operating with less than 30% capacity. Banks, post offices, communications and other utilities were also ordered to operate with limited staff.

But on Nov. 27, the restrictions were further tightened with government offices asked to operate with essential staff only.
