The number of motor vehicle registrations in Turkey doubled in September, up 101.6% compared to the same month last year, according to official data released on Tuesday.
A total of 105,732 first- and second-hand vehicles were registered last month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The figure was also 1.8% higher than the preceding month of August.

The total number of registered vehicles in Turkey reached 23.85 million by the end of September, TurkStat said.
Automobiles accounted for the lion’s share — 51.7% — of registrations last month, followed by motorcycles at 22.6% and small trucks at 16.9%.
In terms of brands, 20.3% were Fiat vehicles, 17.4% were Renault, and 8.6% were Toyota.
From January to September this year, 736,543 new road motor vehicles have been registered in Turkey, a 55.9% rise from the corresponding nine-month period in 2019.
