Turkey’s deputy foreign minister is set to visit the US capital on Thursday and Friday as part of political consultations between Ankara and Washington.
“Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sedat Önal will visit Washington, D.C. on 16-17 September 2021 and meet with Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland,” said a Foreign Ministry statement on Wednesday.
Önal and Sherman are set to discuss “bilateral relations, regional issues and international developments” as part of comprehensive political consultations to be held between the delegations during the visit, added the statement.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pay a visit to the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 19-22.
Erdoğan is also expected to inaugurate Turkish House, known as Türkevi in Manhattan.
