100-meter-long tunnel starting from Syria's Atme tent city was being used for illegal crossings into Turkey.
Federal agents drilled and used underground cameras to investigate the tunnel after discovering a sinkhole near cross-border fencing in mid-July.
The accident occurred on late Monday at a tunnel on a highway in the city of Jincheng in Shanxi Province.
Footage shows that the tunnels stretched across town with exit to the Turkish border.
The excavation efforts continue in Tal Abyad, Ras al-Ayn, Qamishli and Al-Malikiyah cities along Syria’s border with Turkey.
