Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will pay an official visit to Türkiye on Friday.
The two-day visit came at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish Communications Directorate said on Twitter.
Erdoğan and Tebboune will meet in Istanbul to discuss how to further develop bilateral relations.
Improving bilateral relations are on the agenda
“Bilateral relations between Türkiye and Algeria will be reviewed in all aspects, and steps that can be taken to improve cooperation will be discussed during the meetings to be held in Istanbul on Saturday,” it said.
“Views on current, regional, and global issues are expected to be exchanged during the meetings,” the directorate added.
The cooperation agreement signed in 2006
In 2006, Ankara and Algiers signed a friendship and cooperation agreement involving strengthening dialogue in the political, economic, and cultural fields to accelerate bilateral relations.
Türkiye is known to have the largest foreign investment in Algeria.
In the early 2000s, the number of operating Turkish companies in Algeria was only 7.
As it exceeded 1,300, it is currently providing employment opportunities to over 30,000 people.
