Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that the monthly minimum wage, which currently stands at 8,506.80 lira ($444), will be raised after the elections.
The upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on May 14.
Answering journalists’ questions in the parliament about whether the government is planning a raise in the minimum wage before the election, Erdogan said: “No, There is no such thing. We’ve already announced all the hikes.”

When asked if minimum wage earners should wait until the end of the year, he went on to say: “They will wait for July.”
Meanwhile, Erdogan met the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin yesterday.
In the meeting at the AK Party headquarters, they discussed the situation of those whose salary is above 7,500 lira following the increase in the lowest pension.
The current minimum wage announced at the end of the year 2022 corresponds to a 55% increase from the level determined in July of the same year.
