Turkish, US treasury chiefs meet in India to improve economic partnership

Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Monday met on the sidelines of the G-20 finance ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, Indian capital.

During the meeting, Şimşek was accompanied by Turkish Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan, according to information obtained from the ministry.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Joe Biden met at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, and discussed several issues, including bilateral relations, security cooperation, and regional issues.​​​​​​​

Turkish treasury chief congratulates India for the summit

Şimşek, meanwhile, congratulated India for hosting a “seamlessly organized G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ summit and the great hospitality.”

“I look forward to the G20 Leaders’ summit in September, focusing on “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” he said.
