Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said that the newly announced minimum wage was not enough according the exchange rate.
The head of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) made his remarks during a press conference with Felicity Party leader Temel Karamollaoğlu.
“The given minimum wage increase is low comparing the exchange rate,” said Kılıçdaroğlu.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the minimum wage would be hiked by over 50% starting from the first month of the year 2022.
According to the decision, the net minimum monthly wage will be 4,250 Turkish liras, which means $275.
“We do not underestimate the determined figure, but price increases should also be taken into account,” added the main opposition leader.
